Great place to stay and staff are really friendly. Jobi warmly welcomed us on our first day and explained everything there is to do here. Only minor negative is that due to it being low season, the hostel is fairly quiet during week days but that is like anywhere in Varkala during this time of year. Food is also good and very reasonably priced. If you’re an international guest remember to bring cash to pay as they do not accept international card and the closest ATM is about an hour walk away.

Our stay here was an absolutely amazing experience. We initially thought we would only stay in Varkala for 2 to 3 days, but we fell in love with the place and extended our stay to 10 days! The energy here is incredible—I met so many wonderful people and gained a completely new perspective on life. Aside from the great conversations, we joined in on tons of fun activities. A special shoutout to the event manager, Muhammad, who was the most welcoming host we could have asked for. We spent our time playing card games, making new friends, and enjoying the live music and dancing over the weekend. If you are coming to Varkala, you have to stay at Zostel for at least a few days. The vibe is simply incredible

Stayed at Zostel Varkala during the monsoon and the view from the property is honestly amazing. The location near the black sand beach and the overall vibe are the biggest positives. Food was also surprisingly good. However, the A-frame cottage felt very small for the ₹5k pricing, and the water pressure in both the shower and jet spray was extremely poor. Also faced a minor hygiene issue after finding a small insect in the masala papad, though the staff replaced it quickly. Overall, a great place for the scenery and atmosphere, but the rooms and facilities don’t completely justify the price.

Stayed at Zostel Varkala during my solo trip and honestly had a great time. The view from the property is beautiful, especially with the beach right there. The community manager was super friendly and made everyone feel comfortable. Came here solo but ended up meeting some amazing people and making good memories. Would definitely stay here again

This zostel varkala is one of the best place to stay in Varkala. I have been here for 5 days. The best part about the Zostel Varkala was the Cafe, the cafe receptionist is a very good host and chef Prem oh my God, you have to try his Dal Khichdi Don’t miss on that. It’s a very simple food and a comfort food, but on the days like when it’s raining outside, enjoy it with a sip of alcohol or something and relax back and you will meet many new people. Many good friends, and you never know you might create a connection you are looking for always.

Had a wonderful stay at Zostel Varkala! The property has a beautiful sea-facing location, and one of the best things about it is its proximity to the North Cliff, making it very convenient to explore Varkala’s cafés, shops, and viewpoints. A special mention to Amal for his excellent service and friendly attitude throughout our stay. He was always approachable, helpful, and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The overall vibe of the hostel was great, with stunning views, a relaxed atmosphere, and a perfect location.

I had a wonderful experience staying at Zostel Varkala. The location is absolutely beautiful—the beach is just a short walk away, and we could even see the sea right from our room. The rooms themselves were very pretty, clean, and had a calm, peaceful vibe that made the stay even more relaxing. One of the best parts was how everything was conveniently located. There were lovely cafes nearby, and the sea was always within reach, making it perfect for both relaxation and exploring. The staff were extremely cooperative and helpful, which made the entire experience smooth and comfortable. There was also live music during our stay, which added such a great atmosphere to the place. Right outside our room, there was a small lawn-like area where we could sit, unwind, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings while watching the sea. Overall, it was a very calming and memorable stay, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Varkala.
