I visited Alobar 1000 twice during my ten-day Nepal trip, and honestly, the second stay wasn't even a question — I knew I had to come back. I stayed in a private room both times, and for the price, the value is genuinely hard to beat. The room was spotlessly clean, quiet, and peaceful — everything you need after a full day of exploring the chaotic, wonderful streets of Kathmandu. It never felt like I was compromising on comfort despite being in a hostel setting. But let me be honest — the room is the least exciting part of staying here. What makes Alobar 1000 truly special is the energy of the place and the people you meet. Within hours of checking in, I'd connected with staff, fellow travelers from across the world, swapping stories and travel tips over cocktails at the bar. Speaking of which — those cocktails are refreshingly good. alobar1000 is by far the best Hostel in Kathmandu, I ever stayed at. The Spaces, the Beds, The Staff and The Owner everything here is been a 10/10. It's a place where Compassion and Love Dwells in all corners in the shape of an Owner, - Tashi La, A travel Desk Manager- Kishore, and the Lovely caring staff of the Hostel and Cafe who are always there to make you feel special. Alobar1000 is the hostel i have stayed many times. Solo female traveller i am always greeted by a happy 24 hour receptionist team even late in the evening and always a security guard at the entrance gate so feel safe. Has the trekking vibe and always friendly talks going on in common areas to join. Clean lovely pool to relax and great variety food menu offered but its the nice cosy dorms, quality pillows and clean quilt doonas that little touch of luxury that truly stands out and makes you feel good when your travelling as a backpacker. Its the whole team that make Alobar Hostel successful and always seeing the cleaners at all hours keeping the place hygienic. Special mention to Sunaina on reception always helping to where to catch local buses and good advice. this place is very clean and the hot water you can get the at 24 hours and they‘re very friendly and there’s so many fun people in there. Very safe place and very nice. The sanjib at the hostel here are really nice. They'll take you where you want to go and introduce you to the local culture and so on, like having a guide. he’s a good guy here. You can make a new friend like that. Hyundai also sanjib is a good rapper. Musician

Great place to stay for backpackers - rooms nice and got lockers and decent bathrooms with hot showers. Staff are super friendly and good at table football. Location is great being on the edge of thamel so near good food spots and a climbing wall but not so in the centre that it’s crazy loud.

A little quiet in early December but well located for Thamel and Monkey temple and Bus station without being too noisy or hectic (down a side street which helps). Smiley helpful staff. Lots of facilities and games. Only 2 of us in a dorm for 6 so slept well. Plentiful loos and showers and kept clean and functional. Good breakfast included in price so felt like really good value for money.
