Gjendebu ligg flott til i den innerste enden av Gjende, midt i hjertet av Jotunheimen. Den er DNT si eldste turisthytte, bygd i 1871 og feira såleis 150 års jubileum i 2021. Hytta har vore utvida og ombygd mange gonger, og den har i dag moderne fasiliteter.Her på 990 moh. ligg vi i skjæringspunktet
